HDD performance degrading

I have two internal HDD, one for the OS/programs and the other for media. It is a 2TB Western Digital Green drive. I believe there's something wrong, as it doesn't seem to be fast enough to play 1080P video from the drive. Also, transferring an 8GB file from the media drive to the main drive says its going to take 7 hrs at 210 KB/s. What is going on?

Well if it's sata have you tried moving the drive to another port and/or replacing the cable? If ide have you checked the data cable to make sure it's fully seated? Have you defragged lately or checked the smart status of the drives? Most drive makers offer free testing tools for their drives to let you know if something is amiss.

It is a SATA drive.

The WD diagnostic tool reports that SMART is fine, as well as the quick test. I haven't done the extended test yet though.

I'll try switching the SATA port and see what happens.

Also, I should mention that I'm getting issues such as the drive disappearing or getting "access denied" errors.

UPDATE: I switched the HDD to another SATA port on the motherboard and the issues seems to be gone. Could it be that my motherboard is dying?

Thanks for the help!

It could also be the disk controller drivers. Easiest way to find out is to plug the drive back to the 'slow' port and boot into safe mode and copy a file.
