HDD overheating problem

Hi,
I have a kind of a cramped tower ATX case.It has 4 5.25" bays and 3 3.5"bays. The problem here is that i have 2 HDD's and a floppy drive, which means that all three are kind of stacked on on another with no ventilation at all.
One of my HDD's is a samsung 5400RPM 8gig which runs smooth and cool, and the other is a 30gig Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM which gets pretty hot with a little use.
My concern is that the heat from the barracuda cant escape and the drive stays really really hot.I think this is the reason why it developed quite a few bad sectors.
How exactly can such high external temps damage the drive?

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i can run my barracuda a little cooler or do something to help with the heat ventilation. There is no space to fit a separate HDD cooler. My last option is to look for a roomier case, but if anyones got any ideas, id like to hear them.
thanks

if you have no room for a 5.25" hdd cooler, then this is what you can try. move the harddrives and floppy back in their 3.5" bays about 25mm or so. then stick a fan (80mm should fit) in front of the drives and have the fan blow cool air over them. this is what the antec sx series cases does with the 3.5" bays. i have sx635 and the fan keeps my hd very cool.
