HDD not responding after forcefully ejected

I have a Sony external hard drive HD-EG5 of 500GB, USB 3.0 which was plucked away without ejecting it properly from Windows by my cousin's son. After that I plugged in my drive and it responded after 15-20 mins. Meanwhile, the address bar of Windows was gradually being filled like that happens when one performs a search. But the next time I plugged it never responded. I cant even access it in CMD. It had a HD-EG5 label, but now it shows "Local disk" instead. Now I have a lot of important data in that so guyz please help me out here.

NB-I know there are many tools to backup or recover from a damaged HDD but I want to establish a connection first.
 
After reading some reviews, it's probably the Sony security software that crashed.. Similar problem from another user..

"It is impossible to erase the hard drive because the security software "hides" the secured portion of the hard drive so if you try to format the hard drive it only formats the 100mb left on the hard drive as it cannot see or access the secured portion of the hard drive. This would be awesome if the security software worked but.... the software completely crash every time I tried to access the hard drive. This software basically bricked the hard drive. Sony should be ashamed of themselves for including software capable of bricking the hard drive."

There doesn't appear to be a way to repair the factory software, so you may be SOL.
 
If all else fails, crack open the external drive, remove the harddrive and install as a secondary in your computer.
 
But I didnt install any software from that HDD. Moreover that utilities supported until Win7.
And yeah I tried plugging it in another computers, same scenario.
I was thinking if I booted it into Ubuntu or in WinPE, will it do any good??

I tried removing a newer Toshiba external HDD to repair that way, but there was no sata interface. The usb was built into the circuit board and the only connector. By all means try it, just don't break it apart.

Guyz, guyz I'm not cracking anything open. Not now atleast. It has a 3 year warranty. I just want to extract the data from it and then format it for good cuz as far as I realize the file system must have got corrupted. Breaking the thing is off the table.
 
I think it would be interesting to go into Disk Management and see if the lost space has been moved into unpartitioned space or is totally missing.

If the missing space doesn't show up at all, you should be listening to those above who are giving you recommendations, or contact Sony and see how much they charge for data recovery.

Because they will most likely charge for data recovery, but at least you will get your drive replaced as well.
 
Okay guyz I figured it out at last. After about 45 mins the HDD finally responded. Then I backed up all my data, formatted the drive and so far so good. But still now I have no idea why the drive took 45 mins to respond normally. Any clues anyone??

Lesson to learn.(do not buy sony products)

In reality this has happened to me using any non sony product.
It is true plugging it into different USB slots should have fixed but glad you got it back up and running.

You can try and do two things.

Fix the MBR by going by following the instructions on this page

or

You can QUICK format (does not delete the files) the drive. Then use Recuva which is free. To find all the files again and copy them to a new drive
