HDD not detected???

so i have this dell computer sitting around that's fairly new but the weird thing is that when i try starting it it would go into bios and such but then tells me that it can't detect any harddrive. I switched around hdds and they work fine in my external enclosure but it wont show up on the dell at all. Do you think this is a motherboard problem? I checked and switched around the wires also. thanks for your help people

I'm not sure if this will work but maybe worth a try. The jumper on the back of your hard drive may need to be moved to master if u have the cable plugged in primary slot. Or in my case, it was a western digital and all i had to do was simply remove the jumper plug and voila it recognize my hard drive. hope this helps

are any optical drives being detected? if so, hook the hard drive up to the secondary channel to see if its an issue with the board.
