All systems involved below are Windows 7. I have a Hitachi 1TB hard drive that I had laying around and thought I would put it to use for a project. I was using it in a USB 2.0 cage but using it to work off of VHD's was long and arduous. So I chose to borrow one of the eSATA cages we have at work to hold the drive. It was soon afterwards that I discovered that the eSATA ports on my system sucked, and the drive would suddenly drop off within 30 seconds of a long data data transfer. After a couple times of this happening the hard drive stopped showing up in disk manager.

I figured I'd hook it up directly in my desktop to see whats going on and it freezes up during the start of windows. All I get is a zzzzzzzzzz zzzz zzzzz sound. I think that the Hard Drive is suddenly fubared and figured that I would run diagnostics. Hooking the drive up and booting up ViVARD led to an anti-climactic 0-issue situation. The program sould scan the drive (no errors), smart data was fine, and the drive was operating completely normal.

Try to boot my computer again with it connected and it still freezes on start and begins doing the zzzzzzzzzzzz zzzz zzzz sound again. Does the same thing when connected to an eSATA cage.

I can find almost nothing on the internet about others having an issue like this.. Anyone have some ideas?
