HDD has only 50MB left...

i am doing work on a friend of mine's machine and it was not booting up. so before i do anything i always make a backup image of the hdd to a network drive. i used true image and noticed that the hdd had only 50MB open. i have personally never let a hdd get so full and before i do anthing, is this space problem going to cause a problem? they want to keep the data so i can't just put a new install on it, but i know his daughter d/ls all types of stuff so that is why it is so full.

what problems will this full hdd give me?

Get that stuff off - quick - ghost it, clone it, acronis it, image4win it.... whatever,

If some of those sectors decide to give up -- lost data.

If you are going to clone it to a bigger drive, and shove the drive into the same system, there shouldn't be that much of a problem

prob a lot of cache file & spyware.. i seen some spyware take up 14 gb in a 30 gb hdd.. and it was running for 2 years.. 🙂

delete some stuff...hell even the windows disk cleaner utility would help, and run adaware or ms beta spyware catcher. if they oppse it, just do not tell them bebcuase they obviously do not know what is for their own good (with the duaghter d/ling tins of crap)

I once saw a computer not boot because the HD was so full. After deleting a few hundred meg, it came back up again. You may just need to free some space so you can get back into windows.
