HDD for server

I wanted to purchase a Dell poweredge T310 or T410 server, but I didn't want to purchase their over priced hard drive or raid controllers. It was no problem though I needed to purchase extra drive cages.
The server already had 4 slots for removable drives ... 3 of which were empty.
I simply populated them. I assume I could have also opened it and installed the drives internally but it wasn't worth the effort.
Works beautifully, though I would go with an SSD for the OS and SATA RAID for the storage next time.
