HDD Enclosures: Any Recommendations?

I'm planning on buying a Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 200GB HDD for backup/extra storage purposes and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on good enclosures for such a device. The hard drive is IDE and I would prefer to use a firewire connection. Anyone have any recommendations?

ADS, AMS, and Bytec all make decent enclosures for the price. Depending on how you plan on running the external drive (24/7 or random access), I'd look at getting an enclosure with a fan.

I don't plan on keeping it on 24/7, more of just a turn it on when I need back stuff up.

After a little bit of looking, I'll probably go with this AMS enclosure: Text

Thanks for the advice.

Mapower make the best looking enclosures. Not particularly important but they are also known for using good chipsets and many of them are entirely constructed of AL which is a nice touch. This one should fit your needs.

Hm... it may actually be better for me to go that route seeing as I won't have it on all the time and I could always go for smaller stuffing (seeing as I'll be stuck in a dorm this coming September).

Thanks for the suggestion.

NP,

There are a few with active cooling if you think you need it but even if the dirve is able to breath it should be fine for hours on end.

I've seen and used the AMS and while they work just as well they look and feel cheap compared to the Mapower enclosures I've used.
