HDD Dock IDE/SATA

flukester

I remember reading a review some time ago (year?) and I think it was here on Anand, for an All-In-One HDD dock; it had 2.5" & 3.5" versions of both SATA & IDE.

I can only find IDE or SATA, I cannot seem to find that dock that had it all and I'd really like to get one.

Anyone know which dock I'm referring to?

Thanks.

flukester,

First, welcome to the forums.

The only problem with dock stands and PATA drives (both SATA and PATA are types of IDE drives) is that the PATA connectors aren't designed for easy (backplane style) connections. You can get dual mode adapter cables (some linked above) that will run both types, and now I see there is a dock block that can do it too, but I wouldn't want to have to apply the type of pressure that inserting a PATA drive might require. I don't like the adapter cables either mostly due to the cheap and noisy (radio frequency) power supplies that often come with them.
