What the best HDD cooler out on the market right now? Or the most popular?

I need it to fit in a 5.25 bay and use rails becasue I have a Xaser III case and you can't use screws.

hey pirred,

the xaser 3 case has the 2 80mm fans in the front which are decent at keeping the hdds cool, HOWEVER make sure you get rid of those cheap-assed crap thermaltake give. I replaced mine with zalman (cheap quiet and move quite a bit of air) and with a dremel i cut out the stamped grilles in fron of the fans - you dont need these since the black ones and the filters are more than enough.
That used to kepp all my drives very cool, and should be very cheap ;)

other than that i would personally go for the coolermaster cooldrive (4/6) or the vantec nexus.

We'll thats all great suggestions, but I have to move my HDD to a 5.25 bay becasue I have other plans for the lower half of the case.

The cooler master cooldrive is nice, but I've been researching a little and the Vantec Vortex seems to be the best I've seen so far. Does anyone agree or disagree?

I think the Vantec Nexus is a fan controller not a HDD cooler.

yup , nexus is a fan controller only

The aerogate 4 is not that good - its a big heatsink but the fan isnt as effectife as the cooldrive 6 or the vortex

personally i think the cooldrive 6 is the coolest since you can control the lcd through software and it also has a cross flow type fan like the nexus

for value for money and performance i agree the nexus is a better choice. Plus it looks cool :D

I wasnt sure if the vortex was too noisy, I am picking up a zalman passive one today at microcenter. I will probably place a 92mm or 80mm low rpm fan behind the 5.25" bay to suck out air from the front of the drive to the back of the case...
