I had all of my graduation pictures on my computer in a raid 0 setup (it was a temporary hold over till i made a copy of them). I never did make a copy and I recently went to vista. I only did a quick format and I faintly remember reading about some way to recover stuff like this. It was in the windows default My pictures folder. Is there any way to recover these pictures or am I fvcked?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

It's not clear to me what happened.

You did a "clean" install of Vista on your RAID 0 array, performing a "quick format"?
Or something else?

You're screwed. It'd be a little less difficult if it wasn't in RAID-0, but if you're really set on getting them back maybe you could send them to a data recovery company.

On the other hand, consider this a free bump incase anyone else knows of a way.

Maybe some of the other RAID 0 lovers will take notice.
I don't honestly think that will happen, but you never know...

Nobody thinks a crash or data corruption will actually happen to them.
But in the OP's case of simply not backing up before a major OS upgrade...
I'll hold back my thoughts. :p

Yes indeed, it's always something that happens to 'other people'. We all get it until our first major hard-drive crash! :D

Not backing up before a reinstall was a bit... hmmm... but perhaps he was expecting his My Documents etc to be brought over but forgot he wasn't doing an upgrade...?

Since OP did not have a HDD crash, there may be a reasonable solution using ZAR on his RAID 0 array to recover those photo files.

ZAR

Having said that, this is for me another good example of why not to use RAID 0. It really doesn't bring much to the party except frequent heartache.
