Let me start by explaining that in the past I have stably overclocked my current rig to about 2.45Ghz, with no problems. Recently, I returned my computer to stock speeds for about a month before deciding to OC it again. As I started to slowly increase my OC again, I ran into this HDD problem:
When I turn my HTT up past 220, or so, my HDD starts Clicking really loudly as the windows screen shows up during boot. The HDD activity light pulses as well in synchronization, and it will continue doing so for about 2 minutes before the scrolling bar in the windows logo freezes, but the HDD continues clicking. I then do a hard restart, turn settings back down to stock, and it boots up fine.
This issue only appears when I begin to OC, not at stock speeds. The HDD is a Seagate 7200.8 250Gb, purchased almost 4 months ago at the end of November, and it shows it as 89% fitness in speedfan. My other comp specs are as follows:
opteron 144
2x1Gb Value Ram
7800GT
Fortron 450AX
Epox 9NPA+ultra
