HDD Burn-In Test

When I purchase a new drive specifically from WD. I will usually run several extended tests and full erase tests. In addition to that I also record the times it takes to complete each test to ensure the drive(s) are performing correctly.

I just want to know if this is a sure enough way to find out if I have a dud or defective drive aside from the DOA drives.

Thank you.

A rpm drive's life can never be a sure thing, when they die they die. But you can get an idea of the health of the disk by using manufacture's diagnostic test tool and scan disk. Be careful with using extensive erase tests on the drive, as it might reduce the life of your drive.
