HDD becomes 'Unallocated' after Windows 10 'Anniversary Update'

Windows 10 Pro has run great for me... until now. I let it update today (the 'anniversary update') and now my 2nd hard drive shows up as 'Unallocated'. There are lots of files/pictures/music on there I don't want to lose!

It is a WD 300gb Raptor (Disk 1). I don't want to format it or I will lose everything.
Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks!

Wow, that's a big one. I have done two updates so far and haven't had any issues yet.

This has been mentioned on other places[1][2]. The drive is actually fine and the data is still there as long as you don't mess with it. Rolling back to 1511 causes it to work again although that's not a great option. Running chkdisk may make the data unrecoverable according to [2]. There may be some useful info in the reddit thread I linked too although I was not affected by this issue so I've no idea where to start.

My initial thought would be to just wait for Microsoft to release a fix or make a statement on it (if they haven't already). I would try and avoid messing with the drive in any way until we have more info (especially info coming from Microsoft themselves). Your data is fine so long as you don't mess with it.

Out of curiosity Lipservice, what controller is that drive running on (or at least what model is your board)?

This update gave me the locked up windows after startup. I get about 20 seconds after I get to the desktop before windows locks up and I have to force shut down. The fix was to change the default app install folder to my C drive instead of a 2nd HDD (I changed it for games I install from Windows Store). There's a huge thread on reddit about this issue with all kinds of potential fixes. Almost 700 posts worth.

Op, are you running GPT or MBR partitions? just curious since I have similar setup, and my Raptor drive is fine.
