HDD access every second in Xubuntu

Recently installed Xubuntu to increase my F@H ppd, and have noticed yesterday that my HDD light is flashing about every second.

Is there some way to figure out what process is doing this? (F@H is set to 15 minute checkpoints.)

iotop should help. I am running Mandriva and get access every 5 seconds or so, and iotop says it's "jbd2/sda1-8", the journaling system for ext4. If that's really a problem on your system you could either disable journaling or use another filesystem.
