HDCP / Tuner / DVR?

I have this DVR, which claims to have HDCP.

I want to purchase this card, which cannot capture HDCP.

Will I be able to bypass HDCP by using component cables, and record TV programs?

The question I might ask is why you want to capture stuff off the DVR on to a computer. There might be a better way to do what you want to do.

Well, id probably suggest a Hauppage HD-PVR. It's a little but more expensive, but might work more seamlessly for what you're looking for.

But I still don't know why you want to record your DVR to your computer.

I'm not 'recording my DVR' to my PC..

I'm using my DVR to get the Coax cable to something I can use: component.

I am so confused about what you want.

Your original post said that you had a DVR (through your cable company, I presume) that you wanted to hook up to your computer via a add-in card that captures HDMI. You were worried about HDCP though. So why else would you be wanting to run your DVR in to your computer?

the DVR will record anything without a monitor hooked up. Do ou just want to play it back on your computer monitor? Do you wanto use your computer as a DVR? Are there shows/movies on your DVR that you want to archive off in a digital format?

You still not said WHY you want to capture the output of your DVR on to your computer. If you don't want to, that's fine. The Hauppage HD-PVR is probably your best bet based on the information I have and assuming a few things about your setup.
