hello there, I would really like to keep my computer alive for next generation technologly, and to help I just added 512 ram, and got myself new 7800Gs AGP card, so will this card be campatible with HDCP monitor?
I got this quote from one of the article
"NVIDIA, being a GPU manufacturer was unable to discuss the plans of board manufacturers. We contacted all six of NVIDIA?s Tier-1 board partners. None of the GeForce 6 or 7 video cards available on the market, including the most recently released GeForce 7800GS, have HDCP support. So if you just spent $1500 on a pair of 7800GTX 512MB GPUs expecting to be able to play 1920x1080 HD-DVD or Blu-Ray movies in the future, you?ve just wasted your money."
so now is it worth getting HDCP monitor? will I be able to take advantage of this feature, or will it only play DVI format?
This question is gone be crucial when deciding between old dell 2405FPW and newer model 2407FPW, considering old model will be going cheap real soon as computer geeks try to dump old technology to get in line with HDCP technology...
Right nopw I have 21" CRT monitor, so size and performance is very important to me.
And my biggest use with computer is playing game and viewing pics, so where does HDCP come in this, will I be affected? Or will I be able to play games beyond next year?
Is HDCP technology over hyped or is it for real? and is it really gone make my monitor outdated?
What kind of content is regulated and constrained by HDCP?
Does this HDCP technology mean I can't play content I download from internet?
will all the media content be turned into new blue ray technology or this is will just be addition to present technology?
Can normal LCD monitor play HD content from cable? will I need to get HDCP monitor for this?
will 7800gs play HD content from cable or do I need to get another card with tv tuner?
