I have an Onkyo TX-NR609 which only has one HDCP HDMI Out and I have two HDMI Monitors which I would like to split the signal to, However the monitors do not need to be on at the same time. I just don't want to be swaping cables as the HDMI connectors are very fragile (Whoever designed the HDMI Cables & Ports should be broken off like the HDMI ports like to do():)) and I don't want to break one on the reciever or the monitors. So is there a good splitter or switch to buy? I have the cables already and both Monitors (Well a TV and a computer monitor) are in the same general area. I have my computers in the same room as my Home Theater setup (Efficiency type apartment FTL:'()

Thanks

Yes I have looked a MonoPrice I was just wanting information on which one to choose from the page that was linked

I was thinking one of these two

PID 8204

or

PID 2522

I am thinking of buying the PID 8204 but if the cheaper one will work I will get the cheaper one

Thanks

On the top of Monoprice.com you can click on technical support chat and be connected to live chat and ask them as well. They are pretty knowledgeable than the usual tech support.

Also read the customer reviews for both.

Re-read the descriptions & knowledge base on both as well. As 2522 clearly says: "passive splitters do not negotiate individual handshakes between connected devices and do not pass HDCP information back to the source device, passive splitters are not recommended for most home theater applications. For home theater applications, using an active or powered splitter is highly recommended."

How long are the HDMI cables that your using?

The TV to receiver is 6' and the one I already ran to the PC Monitor to the receiver is 10'

I really don't mind switching cables if I get PID 2522 as I just want a device that is not expensive to fix or replace , if I do break a flimsy HDMI connection

Hmmm.... I never broke a hdmi cable yet. Hope I don't too. You do know if they break Monoprice will usually replace them if you ask.

Did you not read what I posted above? Why would you get 2522 if you need HDCP? Get 8204.

You can even ask Monoprice tech support like I said above. They are pretty good.

Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes.

I'm curious to know how this works also...
My current home theater/bar room setup is a projector/screen (being fed from a receiver), a 55" LED and a 55" plasma... I would like to take all the devices and split before the receiver so I can pick and choose what source goes where, which right now isn't possible.... but each source would only be use on one display
.....
example would be DirectTV on the projector, PS3 on LED, and computer on plasma today, and tomorrow have computer on projector, ps3 on plasma, and dtv on LED.... without moving a single wire/hdmi, just changing sources on the display

OK So I finally bought the device and I went with the PID 8204 and it works good I put the Splitter behind the receiver and I ran a 3FT HDMI cable to the Receiver and a 6FT Cable to the TV and another 10FT Cable to the PC Monitor. The Splitter box is also made out of high quality metal and feels like a quality product
