So if i get a BlueRay Rom for my HTPC and it is hooked up to my RPTV that only supports 1080i, will the movies be downgraded to 480p?

Software can bypass all the anti-user schemes. But even in lieu of that, 1080i analog remains possible with existing content. In a few years, discs may be published with Image Constraint Token to restrict such output to 540p.

P.S. it's "Blu-ray Disc" or "BD" for short. BD-ROM is inferred.

So we lose HD-DVD just to gain Sony's forced DRM and limitations?

Both formats have the same HDCP requirements.

On a computer, you must use a dvi or hdmi connection to an hdcp monitor or tv.

But clearly one multinational conglomerate and associates are e-vil whilst the other multinational conglomerate and largely the same associates are goodness and light.
