Greetings all,

I am trying to build a HDCP compliant system that uses HDMI for both video and audio. Latest ATI and NVidia cards are HDCP compliant. That solves the video part (correct me if I am wrong). However, When it come to audio, only ATI has in 7.1 channel embedded audio controller for HDMI. While Nvidia has an SPDIF input port. But are they HDCP compliant? Moreover, I found that nvidia has SPDIF input which only support lossy 5.1 while HDMI support lossless 7.1 or something better. Please help me.

AFAIK, the sound card doesn't matter when it comes to being HDCP compliant. I don't think any dedicated Nvidia cards support lossless 7.1, but their integrated 9300/9400 motherboards do. ATI's 4xxx line supports lossless 7.1. I'm not sure if that entire line supports it, but I'm sure that anything 4550 and up does.

I think this is implied, but your display (eg, LCD) needs to support HDCP, too.
