Laptop has Windows 95. It's an old laptop that one of my users has depended on for so long.
I can't find any information on this error at all. The error only came up once. Now the laptop will not boot completely. It starts processing the autoexec.bat and config.sys and then it just freezes. And then you hear the dreaded repetitive sound of the hard drive being accessed. I think his hard drive is dead. But I can't be positive and I don't want to scare him.......yet. :) If you have any info on this error and if there is a possibility of resolution, I would greatly appreciate it if you could post here. Thanks!

Well, I found out that HDC means "Hard Drive Controller". But I still need to find out why I'm getting this error. I may have to just fdisk and reformat.

Try opening it up and taking a look at the drive to make sure it is connected completely. Before you fdisk you can always use a 2.5 -> 3.5 driver converter and ghost the current image of the disk on to another hard disk.
