hda Lost interupt error with Linux Mandrake

Ok after having the Problem with the Non system disk error,now that i have a boot disk and Lilo,i'm getting a new error now:

Something about "HDA lost interupt".something in that order.

any help with this would be appreciated.

Rerun the install as an upgrade and redo the Lilo section of it... This should take care of your problem...

You can also get a rescue disk (or some equivalent, I use my slackware cd) and use it to boot your system from floppy/cdrom (usually type 'vmlinuz root=/dev/hdx' to start it up) and from there you can type lilo as root to reinstall it.

TonyRic,i tried what you said and it won't let me choose any packages when hitting update.it just searched for packages and starts installing them without showing me a list.


MGMorden,the only way i can boot right now is with the Cd install disk.
then i hit F1 and go to Rescue.

and it shows the Linux logo at top left,and says something about "keyboard layout" and "Modprobe" highlighted in yellow.

then below that it says "Root@??" (Can't remember what it said on the ??/not by the system right now) but it has a blinking Prompt.

then i tried this at the prompt vmlinuz root=/dev/hda and got this:

Bash: Vmlinuz bad command


And i have Lilo on Floppy disk,but don't know how to get access to the floppy to install it..hehe.


Any more help with this would be appreciated.

Man, if you're at the prompt the system (be it the rescue or your own) is already booted!! I would say just go to town from there but you're a newbie so I won't . Basically if it booted a rescue image then you're going to have to mount your linux parition and then edit it's /etc/lilo.conf (use pico in textmode. I hate vi). Then run lilo (it'll be under /sbin/lilo of your installed partition) and specify the config file to use as the one you edited.
