HD6870 1GB CrossFire

I could get a good deal for HD 6870 1GB crossfire, but in the latest review of 7770 this was written:
1GB is already not quite enough for some games at 1920 with high quality settings, but BF3 is especially punishing. If we see more games like BF3, I have to wonder if 1GB will be enough for even 1680 in a year’s time.
. So, would 1GB be enough for 1080p (newer games - BF3, Skyrim,...), or is it better to get 2GB versions?

I wouldn't buy 1GB cards anymore, especially with the horsepower of 2x6870. What would you have to pay for those 2 cards?

Okay, that is a good deal. But I still wouldn't do it, 1GB kinda defeats the purpose of so much graphics power. You would have to turn down details. Get the 6950 and hope you can unlock it into a 6970. OC it a bit and you're good to go.

i run 2 6870s in CF and dont have any issues with the 1GB size, however ive had them for a long time.

bvuying today i would def get 2 GB cards

2x 6870 when their not Vram limited, are like 5-10% faster than a 580.
You can do it for around 320$ vs 1 x580 costing ~470$.

(UPside) Is you save ~150$ and get ~10% higher performance, compaired to buying a 580.

(DOWNside) Is you have to putup with Crossfire profiles, and perphaps microstuttering, and maybe risk a year from now being Vram limited in a few games.
