I played around with my cousins computer to try to tweak BC2 to play a bit better and i ran across the fact that in DXDIAG.exe and 3DMark11, the card is not recognized as DX11, but as DX10.1.

Also, the card seems have issues running BC2 in DX9 mode along with other games as well, any ideas to fix this? I'm gonna reinstall drivers and DirectX, with a total wipe being my last option...thoughts?

The card does support DX11

What OS is he running in his system?

10.11 seems like a pointless update to the drivers, so i'm gonna try to roll back to 10.10 see if that changes anything.

swapped. You thinking what i think i'm thinking?

Swapped from what card?

For what it's worth if I view my system in dxdiag on the same page it also shows as DDI version 10.1 but if I click on the system tab it shows dx version as 11

It was swapped from the onboard GeForce 9400.

I'm seeing the same thing by the way.

Try the following and see if it helps. If you already did a step just move on to the next one.

Remove the nvidia drivers
Remove the ati drivers
Download and use a driver sweeping program such as this one http://downloads.guru3d.com/downloadget.php?id=1655&file=4&evp=b0e23b57cdae2217c3d377655ad3ce34

Next thing I'd do is the show hidden devices trick google it for instructions but make sure you follow them correctly or it wont work. Delete anything video card related make sure to check sound devices also.

Then reinstall the drivers and try again.

If you don't have anything to contribute, please GTFO or don't post in the first place, not all of us can afford to drop $200 on a video card.

I contributed the best information in the thread, actually. It isn't my fault that only the top DX11 cards from both sides right now are worth running DX11 on.

Shoot the messenger, eh?

Just found a review on that card. It barely runs DX9 World at War on a 17 inch monitor, and you are trying BF:BC2 DX11 @ 1080p? I force DX9 on my 5850 @ 1080p in that game.

The card runs BC2 @ 1080p with DX11 just fine...30fps+ as a matter of fact...

"In DirectX 9 mode, the Radeon HD 5670 is once again keeping pace with the GeForce 9800 GT, delivering playable performance all the way to 1920x1200. However, once DirectX 11 features are enabled, the latest Radeon slows to a crawl. Even the powerful Radeon HD 5750 has difficulty keeping the minimum frame rate above 30 fps at 1680x1050.

DiRT 2 makes us question whether or not the Radeon HD 5670's capacity for DirectX 11 is truly usable. Only as more DirectX 11 games are released and benchmarked will we be able to get a clear picture. This is not a positive indication, though."

That's not true anyway. DX11 can offer better performance than DX10 with the same effects, DX11 isn't just about adding new effects but also running old effects more efficiently. So running in DX11 mode can offer better fps, like in BFBC2, if you just don't enable the additional effects.

"The primary uses of DX11 in Bad Company 2 is to soften all the dynamic shadows as well as to improve performance in general with a few smaller DX11 optimizations that we are using."

RavenSEAL, does the System tab of DXDiag show as DX11 or DX10? Also if you manually force DX11 in BFBC2 by editing the .ini file does it still start up?

Take a deep breath, and then just suck it all in.

It does, i removed 10.11 and installed 10.10, 3dMark11 recognizes the card as DX11 now also.
