HD5450 vs HD2500

I've been out of the loop lately with intels newer integrated graphics. I'm building a lite video editing machine for a friend and am wondering how much better the 5450 is compared to the hd2500. Judging from the number I'm assuming it places in between the hd2000 and 3000.

I'd go for the HD2500 for two reasons. They're roughly the same performance, but the HD2500 is integrated and thus uses less power. The HD2500 also has Quicksync...

Agreed. The 5450 is pretty much the same, so why not just use the HD2500 and save the power and heat output.
 
Probably the HD2500 would be best, simply because it's integrated so you get it free. There's not much in it though.

What is the rest of the machine you're putting together? You could always step up to something with a HD4000 in it for a nice performance boost.
 
What software are you using? The video memory from a seperate card may be helpful or not. Some software works better on some cards. etc...

Also why a 5450? The 6450 is newwer and cost about the same but has UVD3 and more video cores.

The 6450 is just about the perfect HTPC card out right now, passive cooling and can handle all kinds of post processing.

That being said, the only reason I went with a discreet GPU is because I have no integrated graphics available in my HTPC, would probably be just as happy with HD2500. I don´t do any gaming with that system anyway.
 
I mentioned the 5450 because our administrative assistant accidentally ordered 4 of them so I have extras laying around. The software is Sony Vegas. Judging from the benchmarks they look about the same so I probably won't even bother.
