Hi everyone, new to the forum but I've been an article reader for a long time.
Looking for a little help on my first post. Been going through this issue for awhile now, tried looking all over but to no avail.
I have my HD4850x2 hooked up via DVI to my main monitor and via HDMI (DVI to HDMI) to my 4x2 Matrix HDMI Switch from Monoprice, then from there to my TV (Panasonic G10 42" Plasma). Every time I want to 'Extend' the desktop to drag over and watch a movie, I have to either a)disable crossfire if it was on, or b) enable Crossfire then disable Crossfire if was off. I've tried every possible configuration as far as which wire in which port on the card, doesn't help. Anyone have a solution?

Crossfire does not support Multi-Monitor while rendering

ATI said:
6. Can I use the CrossFire platform to drive multiple displays?

A. Yes, the CrossFire platform will work with ATI SurroundView™ multi-monitor technology to enable up to 5 separate displays when not running in CrossFire mode.

Yes I know that, my problem is, even if I already have Crossfire disabled, I still have to enable then disable it for my second display (the TV) to show.

which drivers are you using?

i have not had this problem with my 4850x2+4850 setup, but i use DVI -> HDMI cords for everything (no adapters) and i also do not use a matrox device, but i have had 2 24" LCD 1 19"LCD 1 42" panny G10 and 1 56" toshiba DLP all hooked up together with no problems running anything in whichever screen i needed. i was even able to set 2 audio streams and run multiple movies in multiple rooms with no slowdowns.

To do this i needed to disable xfire, but i had no problems once disabled after closing/opening games or movies they were always able to play again without enabling and disabling xfire again.

Could be the matrox device, maybe try without it?

? I run crossfire dual monitor gaming all the time with no problems. My secondary monitor is a 55" HDTV via HDMI and I never have problems. The only difference is I do not route through an HDMI switch.

I use the latest drivers as they become available. Been through quite a few drivers, issue persists, so I don't believe the problem lies there. I'm going to test without the switch in the mix. I'll post back afterward.

I took the HDMI switch box out of the mix and it works fine now. Didn't need it hooked up to the switch anyway since it's connected via DVI to my monitor as well. Thanks everyone.
