Just wondering what kind of performance boost there is to be seen from overclocking the VRAM on a HD4850. It seems mine won't overclock too much, and I'm wondering if I'm missing out on anything significant.

Anyone have any idea if it's that significant a boost?

If you could get it really far then it should be a pretty nice boost. The 4870 is basically a higher clocked 4850 with significantly higher memory bandwidth and it performs a nice amount faster. I doubt you could really oc the memory much farther than 2200mhz effective though.

Hm, I seem to be hitting a wall at around 2100mhz effective...I'll see how high I can get it. Thanks!

My RAM barely OCs at all before I get crashing. Decided it's not worth it. Scaling overall was way better on core speed anyway, and I was able to get that up to 740, so I was okay with no RAM OC.

Yeah, I can't seem to get my RAM to go any higher.

How did you get your core speed to 740? Via CCC, ATT or RivaTuner? I'm assuming you needed to raise voltage to the core?
