Using a 19" CRT running the desktop at 1600x1200 75Hz.

I got Vista for DX10 and I'm running Crysis at 1024x768, but I'm stuck at 60Hz. Not only do I get flicker, but this particular old Nokia 446xpro has a bug which doesn't let me change screen position when using different refreshrates in different resolutions, so 60Hz is partly off screen. So I would really need to be able to run at 75Hz.

In XP there seem to be a "force refresh for 3D apps" in the Catalyst drivers, but that option is not there in Vista for some reason although using same driver version. I had hopes that Catalyst 8.1 added this option in Vista as well, but it did not. I have also searched for Crysis tweaks to see if there were an option to get it to run in a specific refresh rate, but I can't find anything neither in the graphic setup menus or the config files/console commands.

A sollution would be much appreciated!

Are you using the 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vista? The 64-bit one has a peculiar limitation that prevents many of the usual tricks for forcing the refresh rate from working. As far as I know, the 32-bit one is okay.

Thanks for the tip! However, It doesnt seem to work, changing the monitor.inf file and then re-install the monitor. Seems like there's a copy of the file in another folder (cache?) which is write protected...

[NOKIA_446Xpro.AddReg]
HKR,"MODES\1600,1200",Mode1,,"30.0-107.0,50.0-150.0,+,+"

Changed to:

[NOKIA_446Xpro.AddReg]
HKR,"MODES\1600,1200",Mode1,,"30.0-107.0,75.0-75.0,+,+"

Is this right?

Which Vista is this on? That should normally work, but Vista 64 doesn't let you load unsigned drivers at all. I think there is some key you can hold down while booting it to allow unsigned drivers and make it work, but you have to do that every time Windows loads up.

It is Vista 32bit. But it worked, finally. Copied monitor.inf, monitor.pnf and monitor.sys to a different folder and then forced the monitor to install from there.

Thanks!
