HD3870 and Accelero

I don't necessarily read it that way, but it's hard to be sure. You'll need to try it out on your HD3870 to see whether it fits. Do you have an HD3870 yet?

Read the reviews at Newegg and see what they say, and also check the Specifications section on the Newegg site for the Accelero. Maybe that would tell you. And you could call the Accelero tech support and check with them. Lots of avenues for answers...

well i installed it anyway and kept the old heatsinks on. idle temps are 35c and load temps are 55c(played crysis)

Have you looked at any reviews on the HD3870? Maybe they would give you an idea of good idle and load temps. If that cooler is working, seems like temps could be a little lower, but I don't have a basis for comparison to tell whether that cooler is working for you or not...

wow, that's impressive. I put it on my 8800GT and stressed it with ATI tool, idle around 50C and loaded at 70C... Most of my RAMsinks fell off though, might have something to do with it :)
