I use my PC mostly for video and have the DVI port on my 7600GT hooked to my LCD TV via HDMI so I was wondering if this card would be a good upgrade or do I need a HD3850 card to get better performance?

i would get the 3850, you can still run the LCD tv fine and games will be more pleasureable than either card you mentioned.

The 3650 probably isn't any faster than the 7600GT. The 2600XT isn't and it's the same speed.

HD3850 is much faster in games than a 7600GT, but this is of no interest if you are not gaming.

The video processor on the HD3850 is better at processing HD content than the one on the 7600GT.

For $100, the new HD3650 has a bit more gaming power than a 7600GT and the same video processing abilities as the HD3850.

Finally, if you are not processing HD content (BlueRay and HD-DVD) for display on your TV, there is little reason to upgrade. Do you have any specific problem with the display quality of your 7600GT?

Thanks for the info. No problems with my current card but am getting the urge to build a new rig and I sell my old stuff to friends or coworkers so was wondering what to get with the latest stuff on the market. I have my eye on the 3650 but my general impression was it wasn't better than the 7600GT.

Hi
I bought a graphics card from Ebay In July and it's a month old the graphics card is: Ge-Force 7600GT , I got a new monitor way back in April a 16Inch DGM anyway when I tried to put the driver I was given for the graphics card It didn't go to the desktop, I had to uninstall it and left the screen as it was lines appeared than a day or 2 later the lines disappeared by itself...Went on the Nvidia website put the driver on for the graphics card, it was fine for a while than the lines appeared and the monitor went off where the red light flashes (means when I turn the PC off the red light flashes) after a while I uninstalled the driver from Safe Mode as it wouldn't let me on Desktop at all when I switched PC on waiting for it to finish Loading Xp u no that bar that goes up an down whilst waitin 2 go 2 the desktop ...I put the driver on again it worked ok than the lines appeared, went to safe mode than it seemed 2 b ok goin 2 desktop than it did it again (lines across the screen an monitor flashes red) I have since put a new driver on it and it was runnin fine all week til Sunday tonight the lines across the screen appeared and the monitor was flashin red I reset my PC a couple of times and I tried to go to the desktop but it just wouldn't..I uninstalled the driver and kept downloading new drivers but it wouldn't go to the desktop...So what do you think the problem is and how can it be resolved without lines appearing every so often without making the monitor flashing red?? I am getting fed up with this because my graphics card should be doin it's job not doin that every so often because it's weird an it's increasingly annoying..It sorts itself out for a while than goes back to lines on the screen then monitor just flashin red..There is nothing wrong with the monitor because it's a new monitor and I got it off Scan.co.uk , It jus seems really weird about wot's goin on wit my graphics card...Can you help me please , because I am running out of ideas on what to do? Would I need to change the BIOs settings?? If so than how would I do it because Id need to know exactly what I'm doing without mucking anything up.

Thanks

PS
I have got thick lines across my screen where you can't hardly see the writing and I have to change it to Medium 16bit when I go to Display Properties because If I have it on high 32bit I can't see anything properly except 4 pink lines all over the screen and I struggle to see what's on the screen...When I have put the drivers on which I've done about 4 times now , the lines went away for a few days than came back that's what it has done everytime I've put new drivers on, when I've gone 2 nvidia and put the proper driver on waiting for it to go on desktop it just doesn't do it coz the monitor goes off and other times I've put the driver on it i've had funny horrible lines mostly all over the screen and monitor has gone off..Also what graphics card would I need to get that will support my motherboard???

These are the details for my PC:
XP Service Pack 2
Foxconn Winfast Socket 754 -Motherboard
DGM Monitor 16 Inch Widescreen
2.20GHz 1.50GB of RAM
AMD Athlon (tm) 64 Processor 3200+
Ge-Force 7600GT (512MB)

the 3650 as well as the 2600pro/xt are about TWICE as fast in modern games compared to the 7600gt.

annie, have you taken a look at the card itself? take it out of the motherboard and see if you cant clean it abit. maybe dust etc. your card may be overheating.

I never even looked at the date on here but why the heck would annie1987 pull up a 2 year old thread just to say that???

guessing by the fact it's the newbie's first post - s/he probably ran a search for the relevant card, didnt want / know how to submit a new thread and just continued this one. no biggie.
