Hi everyone,

I just finished building a new computer. However, I'm can't get monitor to turn on. My first PSU was DOA (mushkin 580W). So then, I bought OCZ GameXStream 700W PSU. My video card is HD2900XT. Initially when I turn on the computer, everything powers up, then it turns off in 2 seconds and turns back on again but monitor doesn't turn on. The video card fan is still running though. This leads me to belive my PSU might not be powerful enough for this system. But then, I took out HD2900XT and put in X850XT and the system turns on just fine. So I'm not sure if it's OCZ PSU or HD2900XT video card.

By the way, video card has 1 2x3 power connection and 1 2x4 connection. This OCZ PSU only has a 2 2x3 connection, no 2x4 connection. (well it has one but that's for CPU). My question is, am I suppose to connect 2x4 connection as well on the video card?

Also, here are my PSU specs:

+3.3V - 36A
+5V - 30A
+12V1 - 18A
+12V2 - 18A
+12V3 - 18A
+12V4 - 18A

Please advice if I should return my PSU and if so, which one do you recommend? Or should I return my video card? or both?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

Did you make the front panel connections correctly? Check the reset and power switch wires. White or black is usually the ground wire while the colored wire is usually for voltage. Your motherboard manual should give the proper orientation.

I have the same PSU and card BTW--no problems with instability.

connect both connectors ... read the manual ... you leave 2 pins uncovered as you only have 2 six pins and not a 6 and an eight ... you might be uncovering the wrong 2 pins ... look carefully at the installation instructions
