i have a samsung 160 gig SATA hard drive that is being read as 149 gigs. i know that that sometimes its 19 gigs instead of 20, but is 11 gigs normal. i just wanted to make sure. if it isnt normal is there anything i can do?

It has to do with the size of gigabyte versus a gigabit or something like that. I don't recall the exactly but it is basically like a gig of ram actually being 1024 mb. On a larger scale as the size increases the like with my 120 gb hard drive it actually is like 111gb. There is currently suit being filed similar to what happened to monitors where they used to use the actual physical size of the monitor to size it rather than the viewable area. The law suit is trying to make manufacturers change the naming so that it would need to be called a 149 instead of 160. I am all for it.
