If you had long-run cables, a nicer brand might yield better picture quality, but for under 6 ft. generics should be fine.

Parts Express is a good online resource for cables.

You'd have to be a complete idiot to buy Monster Cable. This coming from a ex-Best Buy salesperson.

I would buy an HDMI cable from a company/brand that is known for quality. Monster doesn't necessarily fall into that category, and their price premium doesn't help.

At this point, I'd say that a quality set of component cables will match what HDMI is going to do.

Digital is digital no matter what brand of cable you buy. I'm not saying go buy a $2 HDMI cable, but you don't have to pay the premium of Monster either. It's just outrageous. Get a decent name brand and you will be fine.

Picked up a 6ft DVI to HDMI cable at walmart for about $20 not too long ago. Looks to be good quality with thick shielding and gold plating at both ends. Made by Philips.

I just use the HDMI cable that came with my Samsung upconverting DVD player last year and it works just fine. In fact, it looks great. So damn good that I'm going to go home and stare at my TV all day.

Cheapest HDMI cable you can find at Monoprice. I've been trying to get 3 cables from Monoprice, but at least one of them is OOS at anytime. I'm trying to buy all three together to save on shipping.
