HD Tv question

I got this HD tv thats at repair my dads and he had a guy wire every thing up now that the tv is not there I saw how it was connected it was connected With RCA Red,Green,Blue and he has speakers through the Main reciver the Satilite is HD the reciver is then it goes to the Denon(main reciver) then to the TV Now I know the Denon(main rciver is HD cause I hepled him switch out a reciver for the HD one and connected a dvi like cable to the satilite reciver to the denon then it goes to the TV Red,green,blue cable now my question is is that giving me true HD experiance or is the Red,green,Blue cable jsut craping it out.
