I just tested out an HD Tach bench on my IBM desktar 60GXP HardDrive under winXP, and I'd like to know how good it is.
here

Is it Bad / Normal / Good ?

I'm personnally a bit disapointed, I really tough my results would be near what IBM says on their webpage (especially for the seek time, 4ms is alot, no?). I'm posting this because maybe those specs from IBM are just kind of theorical and that noone reach em.. What you guys think?

Sustained data transfer rates - 40 MB/sec
Average seek time - 8.5 ms

[p.s. could you guys show me your results so I can compare?]

I have a 40GB 60GXP on my nForce rig.

Your scores are pretty close to what I get.

the graph is a bit jumpy... maybe you had some things running int he background that was accessing the disk at the same time as hdtach? otherwise it looks ok. as for the access (seek) time, the numbers look good. the ~4ms difference is the rotational latency for a 7200rpm drive... manufacturers do not include this time in their seek time specs.
