HD/System Performance Question

Currently, I am running a 1.2 GHz Athlon, 512 MB SDR, GF4 Ti 4400 system. For hard drives I'm using two Ultra160 15K RPM 18.4GB Cheetahs.

Sometime between now and Christmas, I'm going to put together a new system -- one of the Shuttle SSF SB51Gs. Either 2.8GHz or 3.06GHz P4, with either 512MB or 1GB of DDR. Definitely going for an All In Wonder 9700 Pro to make this a gaming + HTPC + PVR rig.

I like the SFF for its small desktop footprint and especially for the low noise (I can't sleep while my current machine is running, it's a real screamer). However, I seriously doubt that the Shuttle power supply has enough juice to power one of the latest P4s, an AIW, and a SCSI card + two 15K RPM drives. Also, I'm sure the heat issue in such a small case would be a problem. And I want to go for a much larger HD anyway, since I'll be recording video with the AIW.

I'm thinking of going with the WD2000JB, but I'm wondering how it stacks up performance-wise against my older SCSI devices. I do quite a lot of Windows programming (Delphi, VisualStudio.Net), Linux Programming (gcc, Kylix), and Java programming, so HD performance is fairly important. Also, I've definitely been spoiled by applications that launch basically instantaneously :)

So, given the other system updates, and given that the JB is one of the fastest (if not 'the fastest' period) IDE drive around, would I notice any kind of system performance degredation going to the new machine?
