HD shuts down PS

I knocked over my computer last night. When I tried to start it, it would not boot up. I tried disconnecting everything from the PS and connected one thing at a time to see what was causing the problem. Everything worked except the HD. Whenever I connected the HD the computer immediately shut-off. I tried using another cable and the same result. Also, I connected it to the kids computer and as soon as I connected the power connector to the HD, that computer shut-off just like the other one.

Any idea why connecting the PS to the HD is causing the computer to shut-down immediately? It's almost as if the PS detects that it's miswired or something but I can see no damage at all to the HD.

Time for a new HD?

It doesn't really matter why the PSU cuts out since clearly the HDD was damaged in the fall. Just replace the HDD and reinstall everything. Hope you had your information backed up.

Pretty strange. It's hard to imagine a drop that would make anything on the PCB board short out. Maybe the motor? In any case, it doesn't sound like something easily fixable.
