OK, here's my setup:

Athlon 1.2GHz (no o/ced.) w/. 768MB RAM
WD 45GB and 6.4GB
MSI K7T Turbo Ltd. Ed.
Audigy Card, GF3
WinXP Pro
PSU 300w

My system has been running fine for few months even I lowered my VCore to 1.60. Anyway today, I notice while I surfing the net, one of my HDs suddenly shut off and then spins back up again ( I think it's not the main HD). Then after a few seconds or so, I hear the "ongoing squeal", which forces me to reset my PC. I am running the latest driver for my hardware. This is my first time noticing this problem...So, I read that article saying it might be a bus problem, so, what do you guys suggest?

Thank you.

It looks like the limited edition has the 686B southbridge. Is the squeal coming from the speakers or from the hard drive? My guess is that it is from the speakers. And since you have a SoundBlaster card, I'm going to take a guess and say this is the 686B bug.

I would get the same thing. Playing a game or doing a file copy, suddenly things would sort of stop. Then a loud squeal came from the speakers sometimes followed by a BSOD. There are patches available, but they only minimize the problem, they don't correct it. Tests have shown that they only good solution is to change the sound card.

Yes, the squeal comes from the speaker. Well, I started to notice this squeal after I removed my CD burner, strange.

So right now, I am just using the onboard AC97 unfortunately for now:( Unless I find a place that carries the Santa Cruz card which I barely can find in Toronto.
