Hd Set up? suggestions?

I am currently running my system with my maxtor 40gb 5400rpm as master, and wd 120 7200rpm as slave. now I am going to reformat both and am looking for input on which way woudl be better toset up the hds. woudl it be better for me to have the wd as master?
btw they are hooked up to my maxtor pci ultra card.

I would use the WD as the master because of the faster seek time due to the faster RPM.
Use the 40 gig for MP3's and files that you transfer back and forth. That is the main cause of fragmentation, and that drive won't take as long to defrag.

Is that 120 as in 120gigs ?

If so I would certainly partition that drive and create roughly 10 gig OS partition and use the rest for main storage if your OS will handle it .

Your only going to notice the speed if your doing a lot of file transferring especially if your working with large files like images etc.

That 120gig (if it is 120gigs) will take forever to defrag/scandisk if your using win98.
