How does the drive rpm effect power drain on a laptop? I understand that some bios's may be able to let you shut down the drive after a certain wait period - but is it soemthign one should be concerned with if drive speed is not an important factor? I may end up with a higher power drainign system than say a centrino system.

As I understand it, the newer 60GB 7200RPM drives have better power consumption specs. If you want to improve batt life & performance, go with 7200RPM drive & 1GB RAM. The 1GB will reduce HDD access thus improving batt life.
