DL from the mfr. Each has a free one... But if you want a military level or better cleaning, then get ERASER - more than 35 passes of specialized patterns! I don't know of anything better. Once ERASER is done, run the mfr's zero out util to clean off the formatting/partitioning. It'll be just like it came from the factory.

Some more specifics here? All I want to do is completely erase the HD, there are no sensitive files on it. Could I get some linkage to this "ZERO OUT"?

if its not your windows drive you can go to the disk management and just format the thing from windows. right click on my computer, manage, disk management in the left pane... from there you can see all your disks and format, partition, etc.

if its your windows drive boot to your windows cd, pretend like you're installing windows, it'll ask if you want to keep the current filesystem, say no, it will format, then just cancel the install

SS, talk about lazy, no one here is your Mama... He helps those who help themselves!
. Whatever happened to F&F?... I thought he wanted it REALLY clean. Just FDISK the drive then and remove all the partitions. It's under drive management in XP.

Open My Computer, right click the drive you want formatted. Click Format. Free. If you want to do your system drive, boot to the Windows CD, let the install routine start, get to the point where it asks where you want to install Windows, delete all partitions, create a partition and format it. Free.
