HD read/write speeds?

My dad just bought a new piece of software that says you need a HD capable of a sustained read/write speed of 4MB/sec. It says that all SCSI drives are capable of this, but what about IDE? I can't find specifications for read/write speed on some websites. All I can find is a buffer size; is there an easy way to figure this out?. Thanks a mill

Any drive made in the last 6 years should be capable of that speed.
