HD questions (compatibility, configuration)

I did a search for this and found some info but I need some specific info. Thanks in advance.

I've got about a 3 year old computer (700 mHz) with a 27 GB HD (I think it's ata 66)

Anyway I've been doing some digital video editing and my HD is pretty much completely full. I had to delete some files to burn a cd. I just bought a WD 75 GB HD (after Thanksgiving sale)

My questions are,

1. Is it going to work with my current setup or do I have to get an ata100 card?

2. How should I do my hard drives? (my 27 GB might have some bad sectors) ie which primary, how to partition, etc.

3. How do I do what you recommended for number 2? ie get the operating system on the new one if that is what you recommend, etc

And yes I know a new computer is what I need but I have no money. The HD was my Christmas present to myself.

It will work fine with your current setup, but, without knowing more about your comp, it will probably run at ATA66. This is not a problem.

2. How should I do my hard drives? (my 27 GB might have some bad sectors) ie which primary, how to partition, etc.
I would just install the new drive as slave and use it for data storage, since it sounds like you have a lot to store! Leave it as one big partition. Move most of the video and other data you have onto it.

Check the instructions for the new drive on how to set the jumper on the back to slave and install it. That should really be it.
