HD question

My HDD is coming up as the fourth master instead of the primary master. I'm using SATA. My DVD-RW comes up as the second master primary.

I should mention that I'm using a Western Digital 80GB HD with 7200 RPM with SATA.

Connected to the hard drive are a SATA cable that came with the motherboard and a SATA power connecter that came in the case. Should there be something else connected, and if so, what is it?

My MB is the MSI K8N Neo4-F Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4-4X ATX AMD BTW.

Also, I kinda had to force the HD into the case because the HD was too big. It did some cosmetic damage I do believe because it scratched off some paint, but the MB still recognizes the HD as an 80GB HD.

on your board see if your HD is plugged into the sata1 sata connector. i don't know if this would cause it, but give it a shot. also, your HD is connected fine the way it is, no problems there. and why in the hell did you force your HD in somewhere? that shouldn't be like that, what case do you have?

Well, when I connect it to SATA 1 (had it at SATA2), it goes to the third master for some reason. I've tried the four SATA slots on the MB (unless I'm missing more) and it just goes from the range of 3-6 master.

I have the case at: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811156133

It wouldn't fit in any of the slots, so I put it right under the Floppy Drive since that's where it best fits.

EDIT: I copied some things from the slot that recognized the HD and here's what it said:
Cylinder - 38309
Head - 16
Precmop - 0
Landing Zone - 38308
Sector 255

I don't know if that has anything to do with it but I might as well put it there.

IDE0 is primary ALWAYS
IDE1 is secondary ALWAYS
IDE0 and IDE1 have master and slave channels (Primary masterand slave/Secondary master and slave).
SATA ports are numbered from 1-4 (or whatever) on the ports, but the BIOS sees them as coming AFTER IDE0/IDE1, so they begin at 3, and go on from there, master 3, master 4, master 5, master 6, since SATA only has one channel, primary).
It goes to third master because that's what it is, and that's all it can be on the first SATA port, 4 Master on the next SATA port etc.

So is that a bad thing or should I be alright?

Edit:
This doesn't involve the HD, but when I put a floppy disk in and try to boot from the floppy, it says it fails to boot from floppy. I'm using the floppy disk that came with the HD.
