HD question about FDISK

Ok so I recently bought this 18gb used hd. When I hook it up and boot it doesn't show up. If I hook it up to slave and boot into WinXP, then go into disk management, it still doesn't show.

So might I have to run FDISK on it? Or it could even be a dead drive for all I know.

But I have no floppy drive. Is there anyway I can run fdisk from cdrom? anywhere to dl a boot image that I can burn to cd?

TIA

Hi, Go into setup and make sure the drive is setup. Most BIOS will ignore the new drive if you don't set it up in the bios. Jim

In my bios its set to AUTO recognize. Other HDs that I've put in have been automatically detected by the bios.

I guess I will do the boot cd thing. I think someone sold me a dead drive tho?? Hope not but looks like it.

Thx.
