HD problem with partition in win 98

I have a HD that I added, drive d. It is 20 gig but was partitioned to be 2 gig on this same pc by a trial of acronis true image. I cant get the acronis to remove the partition and restore it to 20 gig. I have tried using fdisk but whatever I do it still comes back to read 2 gig.

I really am not sure if I used fdisk correctly, probably not. It only formats as 2 gig with a complete format. Scandisk runs fine but I assume its only on the 2 gig area.

I have now tried to use paragon partition manager, but it still only sees this hd as 2 gig. I have tried to fix this for several hours and am at wits end, someone please help me! Thank you

My guess would be that the partition was created as Fat16, which has a limit of 2gig. When you launch fdisk, you would need to enable large disk support when it asks you, so that you can create a fat32 partiton, which will allow you to use the whole drive.

Some of the older HDs have a jumper setting called DOS limitation, i.e. 2 gigs, so check the jumpers. This was needed for older systems using dos that can only handle 2 gb hds.
