HD partition formatting stuck @ 90% in WinXP :(

Tried both Fat32 and NTFS for a 1GB partition. Its stuck at 90% for awhile then pops an error, and automatically reboots for me. Next time I'm in I can do a quick format. Anybody else encountered such an error?

Get yourself an old DOS boot disk that has the basic utilities, and run FDISK to verify the partition's existence. Then format that partition. If you get the error then you can conclude that the problem is the hard drive itself and not your XP software.
