HD mounting - Horizonal vs Vertical ?

I know that hard drives a supposed built to set up either way but my on gut feeling tells me horizontal is preferable for more eve bearing ware . Anyone here know something about this subject ? - thanks

The manufacturers say it doesn't matter. I'm inclined to believe them.

I've also seen numerous enterprise storage systems that mount them vertically, and they *really* care about this sort of thing.

MANY companies build their machines using cases that mount the HDs vertically...Dell, Sony, HP, etc. They'll be fine.
