HD Icons in My Computer

I have a Seagate SATA 160 Gig hard drive. With a fresh install of Windows the HD caps at 127 GB. After I installed SP2 I can go to computer managment and make another HD thaqt is 21 GB. So I know I only have one HD and I know both HD icons lead to the same HD. Is there anyway so that Windows(or a program) can combine both so it recongizes is as one HD?

Thanks in Advanced.

Do you mean your hard drive has 2 partitions on it? That just means that you setup your hard drive with 2 different logical units. They aren't actually 2 separate drives.

It is usually better that way so if your windows partition goes bad, you can keep all your data on the other partition, and reformat windows.

You will need a program like partition magic to combine the partitions, I think there is a way to do it in dos, but I don't remember.

No way to do it in dos without destroying the contents of the drive (FDISK wohoo!) Only way to combine is with a program such as PartitionMagic.

Found it!!

When an array has been transformed to a larger size, you must use operating
system tools to access the additional space. There are several possible
methods for expanding the existing file system on an array that has been
transformed to a large size.
Microsoft provides an application called DISKPART that can expand any
NTFS file system without requiring a reboot. The diskpart.exe utility
version you need depends on which version of Windows you are running.
Diskpart.exe can be found on the CD for some versions of Windows or on
the Microsoft website (www.microsoft.com)

This is taken from my Broadcom BC4852 RAID controller manual.

You can use diskpart.exe, so long as the "extra" space hasn't been made into a partition...
