HD getting ready to bite the dust?

Hey my Quantum 13gig ATA66 drive runs and sounds fine with no problems what so ever except when I turn my PC off it makes a humming sound that gets gets softer. Is this normal for some drives? Its been doing this since I got it 4 or 5 months ago.

I'd say it's doing this because its loseing power and the disk/motor is wineding down.

Hey I got that drive too, but it's from a long time ago and I just use for testing and tinkering purposes. I would think that drives normally "spin down" when you shut down the machine. I don't think they will stop the second that the PC shuts down so it's normal that it hums and gets quieter as it "spins down". I may be wrong since my fans usually make my hdds sounds very quiet in comparison.
